Can God Use Flawed People?

I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say that if they step foot in church, lightening would strike.  We have it stuck in our heads that since the world expects perfection, God must also.  Women think they have to look like a magazine cover to be wanted.  Men think they have to make six figures in their jobs to be respected.  So does God follow the world's expectations?  When Moses was selected by God to represent Israel before Pharaoh, he panicked. (Exodus 4:10) Why?  Because he stuttered.  He begged God to find someone else, so God provided a mediator between Pharaoh and Moses, but God still poured His power through this flawed individual.  What about Elisha?  He was mocked by a bunch of people because of his baldness, but God still used him to lead a nation, baldness and all (2 Kings 2:23-24).  When we look at the followers of Jesus, we really see flawed individuals.  You have James and John, whom Jesus referred to as the sons of thunder.  (Mark 3:17)  This was because they would blow up in anger often, and Jesus would have to calm them down.  They were the ones fighting about who would be at Jesus' right hand.  You have a coward with a big mouth.  Peter swore he would never deny Christ couldn't even stand for Christ before a young girl (Mark 14:66-67).  Yet later, through God's strength and forgiveness, this man led thousands to Christ and risked his life for Jesus.  Why?  Because God wants  us to depend on Him, not fight the fight in our own strength.  God proved through the lives of prostitutes, tax collectors, fisherman, and doctors that it was never about an occupation or beauty.  It was about a heart willing to be placed in their Creator's hand and obedience.  So whether you fight anxiety, anger, pride, depression, shyness, or any other flaw, this will not stop God from performing amazing things through you if you will let Him!

Have a great week high-heeled warriors!
