What You May Not Know About This Guy

 

As many know, my oldest son graduated from college yesterday. All of my children are amazing, young adults, but today I'll focus on Trenton's accomplishments. You may not know that he not only graduated with a degree in History and Education, but also passed Firefighter 1 and 2 for Missouri and completed training for EMT. While simultaneously going to school full-time, he also worked as a volunteer firefighter for Western Taney fire department. He would spend the evenings studying, then wake up at two in the morning to rush to the aid of his community.  There were some nights that he rushed to an emergency three times in the early morning and some nights he didn't sleep at all, only to go to class covered in soot and exhausted. At the college, he also worked 15 hours a week.  When he was in junior high school, he encountered some struggles with an activity to which he participated. We told him that life will be hard at times, but the key was sticking it out when times are hard and finishing what you start. He has encountered joys and heartbreaks, but he finished! You may be facing a joy or a heartbreak currently. Don't give up! Even though life may be hard at times, the joy of seeing the light on the other side of the storm will make it worthwhile. Paul mentioned in the Bible to finish the race set before you. He didn't mention you had to be first, or the fastest, he just said to finish. So stand tall knowing that you aren't running your race alone. You've got big hands (God's) holding you up. 

Congratulations Trenton on finishing one leg of your race. I know God's got an amazing future for you!

  A couple of weeks ago, I went with my daughter to her yearly neurologist appointment. They have slowly been lowering her seizure medication. It's easy to worry after all that we've been through, but as we visited the bathroom in the waiting room, we had a little reminder to trust God. There on the paper towel dispenser was a little Jesus. It reminded us He's always with us, even in hard times. The neurologist wanted to do a new EEG. The last one was a couple of years ago and was inconclusive. We scheduled the new EEG for last week. After prayer and remembering Jesus is with us, we went. She received the results the next day. No seizure or abnormal activity! Every year that passes is good news. We are so thankful that God is faithful, and Jesus is always with us! Have a great week high-heeled warriors!

Another Year Older, Another Year Past

  As this year quickly comes to an end and a new year begins, I've thought about some of the interesting experiences I've had as I've aged. See if any of these ring true for you, as well. I've experienced a world with no internet and a world where you can live stream anything to anyone. I've lived in multiple decades and two centuries. I've battled neighbors for use of the party-line telephone and used a smart phone anywhere I want, other than under the support beam in my house and in Yellowstone National Park. I've lived through the same clothing trend 3 different times in the last forty-some-odd years. I've watched television in black and white on a massive set that passes as furniture in a living room and owned a television flat enough to pass for a picture.  I've experienced the only dishwasher being me and lived with the convenience of having a dishwasher in my house. A Night to Shine

 I got the privilege to participate in Night to Shine sponsored by the Tim Tebo Foundation. Night to Shine is a special needs prom/ball for all ages. My husband and I  were contacted the night before to see if we could be buddies for two of the guests. I wasn't sure what to expect but was excited to help out. After squeezing into a dress that fit, I waited for my buddy. I had a sweet young lady that was afraid of loud sounds and flashes of light. She asked if I could hold her hand the whole time. I told her, "Absolutely!" We lined up and were called to ride in the limousine provided. My buddy mentioned she had never gone for a ride in a limo, so she was very excited. They filled the limo with guests and buddies and told me they thought they could fit two more. The two on the back seat scooted enough for my buddy to sit, but I noticed a dilemma.
