Gimme A Break
In case you didn't notice, I took a week off from the blog to have a little vacation with my hubby. Since it was Spring Break and my husband now works during the summer, we took our summer vacation a little early. Our plans were to not have plans. We were going to jump in the car, visit our daughter down South, and then head towards Tennessee. If you know me, you know that I struggle with not having a plan. Having a plan is good, but it can get out of control to the point that it becomes a source of anxiety if things don't go according to plan. Our goal was to relax and walk away with fun stories. This was a challenge for me. On the first leg of the journey, we decided to drive toward a little gas station in the middle of no where. It is one of the oldest general stores in Arkansas. On the way to the store, we noticed the GPS taking us through a National Forest and many secluded hiking trails. At one point, we were told to turn at what seemed to be some guys very cluttered yard. This man in overalls with a long, white, shaggy bear stood by his old, rusty pick-up truck and watched us turning by his property riddled with old appliances and junk. As we entered a narrow road running down a hill I questioned the GPS. The road was in poor condition and seemed to lead to an old dirt road. We trusted the GPS and continued for miles on an old dirt road running parallel to a creek. While the scenery was beautiful, it still seemed to lead to no where. After crossing a one-laned bridge, we come up on a paved road. After that we entered a miniscule town with a few buildings, and there, on the outskirts of that town, was the general store with so many cars, trucks, jeeps, and side-by-sides that it would rival one of the best restaurants in a big city. after waiting in line behind at least thirty people, we had an amazing meal! I learned something important. Trusting God can seem like trusting the GPS. Even though everything around you seems to indicate your on the wrong path, God knows what we don't- the final destination. As we follow in faith, when we've finally arrived, the rewards waiting at the end will be more than worth giving God control of the path.
Have a great week high-heeled warriors!
