A Really Cool Idea- Filling Our Field With Flowers

 

We've had a lot of rain. The problem with this is that grass is growing astronomically. Not a problem if you're mowing a small lawn. It's a huge issue if you are cutting a multiple acre field with a mower. My son cut our church grass one morning. Five hours later, he had produced a beautifully cut field and a horrible sun burn. In order to reduce the long cutting hours, we came up with a plan. We work with a program that provides commodities to the local community. One of those was vegetable and flower seeds. We have our thousands of packets, but still had leftovers. On Wednesday, we had the idea to have our young adult/youth group scatter seeds through the field. We covered a couple of acres with wildflowers, daisies, and a variety of others. Now, the rain has come, and we wait for the harvest. We're not sure how many will grow, but if they sprout, it will be a field of beauty. Our lives are much like this. God has sowed amazing things for the field of your life. Some of our youth were very intentional with sowing. Some threw a bunch of seeds everywhere. In your life, God will place you in intentional situations that will help you grow. There are other situations where you are in random situations that you can use for God's glory. The point is that we wait on God and turn to Him to help us grow. He waters the seeds and guards it from predators that would destroy the seeds. In due time, our lives will develop into things of beauty. So friends, trust God to turn tough situations into growth and beauty. He has a plan for it all.

  I want to start by saying this has been one of the most straining weeks my husband and I have experienced in a while. As many know, my husband's father nearly passed away this week. He has been sick for a few weeks. My husband had a feeling, prompted by the Holy Spirit, that he needed to get his dad to the hospital on Sunday evening. His dad had a doctor's appointment for Tuesday, but he felt like it needed to be right away. He was admitted into the hospital, and by Wednesday, his dad had sepsis. After Brain Surgery

  On the 26th of June, my daughter celebrated 7 years past brain surgery when she had her left hippocampus and amygdala removed. Due to chronic and frequent seizures, we faced a decision no parents want to make. Do we let her continue on maximum medication that didn't work and see her eventually lose more and more brain function or have the surgery and lose part of her brain but possibly become seizure-free? We fully believed in God's ability to heal, but we also recognized that He showed His faithfulness in the storm, not just stopping the storm. So we prayed. For weeks, I prayed for wisdom and God's direction. When we met with her neurologist, my daughter stepped up and said she had peace about the surgery, so we proceeded. The neurosurgeon, who happened to move to our state from Boston just 2 years before, was highly skilled and had mastered the exact procedure that would be needed to help heal my daughter. Journey to the Renaissance Fair

  It was that time of year again. My husband and I take an annual pilgrimage to the Renaissance Fair in Kansas City. It is always a blast to dress up in costumes and walk back in time to dirt roads, jousting, turkey legs, and aristocracy. Kyle and I gathered our costumes and prepared to escape for the weekend. This time we added my youngest son along for the ride. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, other than the extremely long line to get into you ladies privy (bathroom). As the crowds crawled past the thousands, I trekked from one side of the dusty park to the other, desperately looking for ladies' accommodations. After an hour and a half and at least two miles of walking covered, I found success. When we left the grounds, I was relieved to enter bathroom accommodations that didn't involve a marathon and a Black Friday kind of line, that is until we visited a bathroom on the way home.
