This Ache's For You

 

This past week has been very busy with working a church outreach at our local festival and then moving our daughter to a new house. As I was lugging her mattress to the moving trailer a thought occurred to me. I suddenly realized I was in the same shoes as my mother when she and my dad moved me from college. I am now the same age my mother was when she moved me at my daughter's age. I now realize the aches and pains that she hid as she willingly carried heavy box after box of my stuff without complaint. I can't tell you how many moves my parents helped with over the first few years during and after college. Yet I knew that one phone call, and they would be there. As we move closer to Mother's Day this weekend, don't forget to tell your mom thank you for all they've done. You can't truly know the sacrifice until you step into their shoes. Mom, thank you for all you've done. I wouldn't be where I'm at without you!

    As we grow with our own children we learn so much about our Mom and dad 💓 life lessons aren't always bad 💓💓

  I want to start by saying this has been one of the most straining weeks my husband and I have experienced in a while. As many know, my husband's father nearly passed away this week. He has been sick for a few weeks. My husband had a feeling, prompted by the Holy Spirit, that he needed to get his dad to the hospital on Sunday evening. His dad had a doctor's appointment for Tuesday, but he felt like it needed to be right away. He was admitted into the hospital, and by Wednesday, his dad had sepsis. The doctors gave his dad eight hours to live. We watched his pulse and blood pressure plummet and waited for the inevitable. Meanwhile, we prayed that God would move. After Brain Surgery

  On the 26th of June, my daughter celebrated 7 years past brain surgery when she had her left hippocampus and amygdala removed. Due to chronic and frequent seizures, we faced a decision no parents want to make. Do we let her continue on maximum medication that didn't work and see her eventually lose more and more brain function or have the surgery and lose part of her brain but possibly become seizure-free? We fully believed in God's ability to heal, but we also recognized that He showed His faithfulness in the storm, not just stopping the storm. So we prayed. For weeks, I prayed for wisdom and God's direction. When we met with her neurologist, my daughter stepped up and said she had peace about the surgery, so we proceeded. The neurosurgeon, who happened to move to our state from Boston just 2 years before, was highly skilled and had mastered the exact procedure that would be needed to help heal my daughter. Journey to the Renaissance Fair

  It was that time of year again. My husband and I take an annual pilgrimage to the Renaissance Fair in Kansas City. It is always a blast to dress up in costumes and walk back in time to dirt roads, jousting, turkey legs, and aristocracy. Kyle and I gathered our costumes and prepared to escape for the weekend. This time we added my youngest son along for the ride. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, other than the extremely long line to get into you ladies privy (bathroom). As the crowds crawled past the thousands, I trekked from one side of the dusty park to the other, desperately looking for ladies' accommodations. After an hour and a half and at least two miles of walking covered, I found success. When we left the grounds, I was relieved to enter bathroom accommodations that didn't involve a marathon and a Black Friday kind of line, that is until we visited a bathroom on the way home.
