Dog Tired
One of the fun things I get to do as grandma for my granddogs is babysit. When my son is on shift as a firefighter, I watch his dog. His dog is a very large boxer that loves to cuddle all night. It's difficult to sleep well when he wiggles so much. One weekend, I had boxer duty and my daughter asked me to watch her Australian Shepherd. His quirk was waking up around four in the morning to take a potty break. This weekend, however, he decided to wake up at 3:30 in the morning. After already tossing and turning with the big dog, I stumbled out of my bedroom, down the stairs, and out into the dark of early morning. After both dogs finished their business, I stumbled up the stairs, shutting off the lights as I went. As I flipped off the last light, I watched my daughter's dog go back to the room, then I pushed my son's dog through the door. I decided to let the Australian Shepherd sleep out of the kennel for the rest of the morning. He was quiet as a mouse, and we all quickly fell back to sleep. The next morning, my husband woke up and prepared for work. I heard him ask me if I meant to have my daughter's dog out. I sleepily mumbled, "Yes." My husband called me later that day and asked me again if I meant to leave the dog out. Once again, I said I did. To which, he informed me that I was so tired that I left her dog out of our room. I thought I saw him go in our room, but had actually shut him out. He had spent the whole night having a blast running free around our house. Luckily, he was a good boy and didn't destroy the place. Have you ever been so tired that you felt like you couldn't function? God has promised that He is with us through the hard times. When we are tired and burdened, He has asked us to take our worry and stress to Him. Why? He mentioned it's because He cares for us. You matter to God. So when you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, give it to the One who created the world. He's the only one big enough to carry it.
Have a great week high-heeled warriors!
