Small, but Powerful
My husband, daughter, and I had the honor of attending a rural church pastor's meeting this weekend. It was in an unfamiliar area for us, and we arrived with minutes to spare. The parking lot was packed. I was a little amazed because huge crowds usually didn't attend this type of event. As we rushed in a group of teens were handing out programs. I just thought this was a really organized event until my daughter caught my attention. As I glanced at the program, I realized we had crashed a preschool graduation. I'm sure we confused the teenager's by grabbing programs and walking out. I was so embarrassed that I didn't even return the programs, so now I have a program for a bunch of preschoolers I don't even know! We got back in the car and regrouped. Obviously, a preschool graduation was not the rural church meeting. We rechecked the website and confirmed the meeting was at this church. We drove to the side and saw a gym with a door open and a basement door open. We discovered that we were the basement dwellers. At this meeting, something stood out. The speaker was a pastor of a rural church for 37 years. He said that we get so hung up on numbers that we forget that Jesus was more about relationship and pouring into people. If He was only about building huge crowds (which by the way is okay too), He never would have stopped and taken time to minister to the woman at the well (John 4:1-29). God cares about you! Imagine if we focused on each person as though they were the only one God put in our life. Then we do it again. Our church is small, but it is powerful. We focus on who God has put in our life for this time period. Some move on, and some stay, but all were given to us by God. Small is okay if God is in it. The man also said that his church is finally where he wanted it 37 years ago, but that was because he was finally the man he needed to be 37 years ago. Ouch! That one hit home. We pray that God does all these amazing things in our life, but are we willing to be the person He needs us to be in order to make that happen? My takeaway is that I long for God to not only direct my path, but also to shape me into who I need to be to see His will be done!
Have a great week high-heeled warrior!
