I'm So Excited...
Yesterday was an exciting day in a not-so-great way. We have been navigating around a back door with a broken glass pane courtesy of a stray snd a lawnmower. Since it was double-paned, we were in no great hurry to repair it. However, yesterday, the need for glass repair doubled. My oldest son noticed a neighbor's dog had escaped their fence, so he grabbed a leash and attempted to capture it. When my son's Boxer saw his owner with another dog, he began to whimper, bark, and pace in front of one of the front door's sidelights. Once the leash was established on the wandering dog, Ruger had enough. Before I could catch him, in his excitement, he pawed the window, causing it to shatter. The need for glass repair is now inevitable. When my son's dog saw the other dog, he couldn't contain his excitement. It made me think of the woman at the well in the Bible in John 4:4-42. Jesus is traveling through Samaria during the hottest time of day and stops at Jacob's well. While there, he encounters a Samaritan woman and asks her for a drink. During their encounter, Jesus begins speaking to her about her past. He mentions the five husband's, while the one she currently lived with wasn't even her husband. He teaches her that those who take his "living water" would never thirst again. During her time with Jesus, she recognizes Him as the Messiah. First, Jesus is breaking significant rules by teaching a Samaritan, a woman, and a person with a questionable past. Yet, He does this anyway. Second, He points out her past that has caused her to be shunned by her village and relegated to drawing water at the hottest time of day. Third, He offers forgiveness of the old life and the chance to start over. In this moment, as she comes face to face with her Messiah, she becomes overjoyed. Though man may judge, the Creator of the world forgives! In her excitement, she raced to town proclaiming the goodness of God! My friends, Jesus can forgive you and offer the same "living water" to you. Your past doesn't need to be your future. Ask Jesus to be your Messiah. Next, don't keep the excitement inside. As the Samaritan woman saw the freedom in Christ, she had to share it. If Christ has saved you, to whom are you sharing the goodness of God? You may not be breaking windows in your excitement, but you can break down walls of pain, hurt, and fear. Don't be ashamed to be excited for Christ!
Have a great week high-heeled warriors!
