What Scares You?
Let it be known that I hate spiders. Little ones, big ones, they are all equally repulsive to me. My earliest memory of encountering spiders was at the age of three or four-years-old. I had the great idea of bringing my outside tricycle into my room at bedtime. When I woke up, my mother found me and my tricycle connected to spider webs throughout my room. As I watched my mother panick, I realized spiders were not my friends. Later, around thirteen-years-old, I was bitten by a brown recluse spider. The doctor mentioned the bite would rot and cause damage to my leg. My parent's church prayed for me. At that point, the bite was four colors and growing. After prayer, everything disappeared. No damage. No rot. Just normal color and better. As a result of my past history, my fear of spiders is very real. This is especially unfortunate when I live in an area where tarantulas migrate for mating season. I periodically cross paths with the super-sized representation of my greatest fear. The old statement even says to face your fears. I would rather avoid them. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. During this time of year, fear is celebrated, but God didn't give you panic, anxiety, or fear. He gives you love to overcome hatred. He gives you power to overcome our weakness. He gives us a sound mind to counteract anxiety. Whatever you fear, God is bigger. So instead of hiding or chasing fear, let's embrace the knowledge that God gives the answer to our fears. He gives us His presence. I love that so much more than spiders!
Have a great week high-heeled warriors!
